Using PC Software (Recommended)

For reliable editing and transfers:

  • Yaesu ADMS-15
    • Read from radio → Save to SD → Edit on PC → Write back via SD
    • Avoids direct USB cloning issues
    • Ensures correct file structure and checksums

Common Issues & Fixes

  • Radio does not see files
    • Reformat SD in the radio
    • Verify FAT32
    • Ensure files were created by an FT-5D (not another model)
  • “File Error”
    • Mismatched firmware or corrupted file
    • Re-export using ADMS-15
  • Card not recognized
    • Try ≤32 GB card
    • Avoid exFAT

Operational Best Practices

  • Keep one backup per firmware version
  • Label cards per radio if you operate multiple Yaesu HTs
  • Always WRITE a backup before READ operations
